Introduction: Floppy disks are too small for most of today’s modern file types. Zip disks are a step up, but suffer from the same problem that floppy disks suffer from: files can become unstable on them and weeks of work can be lost. What is a better solution to disks? Network file storage! And now, the University of Rochester provides 100MB of space for you to store your files, right on your mail.rochester.edu account. This document describes how to mount mail.rochester.edu as a network drive in Macintosh OS 9, so it will appear just like any other folder on your computer. Step 1: To connect to mail.rochester.edu as a network folder, you will need to use a program called Goliath. Goliath is a free software available on http://www.webdav.org/goliath/. Download this program and install it.
Step 2: After installing Goliath, you should have a folder on your Macintosh that looks like the one below. Double click Goliath 1.0 to run Goliath.

Step 3: Goliath will pop up the login window.
In the URL box, type in https://mail.rochester.edu/sslcgi-bin/file/access
In the User Name and Password boxes type in your mail.rochester.edu user name and password.
Click OK.

Step 4: You will now be connected to your mail account, and a new window will pop up that lists your files as though they were on your computer. An example window is pictured below. You can drag files to and from this folder exactly like you would any other folder on your computer. Once you close this window, you will be logged out of your mail account. To reconnect later, just run Goliath again and return to Step 3.
