AWARDS

2007: Awarded the Prize for Best Student Papers Presentation at the Academic Year 2006/2007 Meetings of the American Musicological Society Midwest Chapter. Paper presented: "Transforming Text: Weill's Use of Circularity as a Framing Device."

2006: Awarded the "Charles Warren Fox Memorial Prize" from the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York for the paper presentation "The Shadows of McCarthyism on Marc Blitzstein's Sacco and Vanzetti" at the 31st Annual Conference of the Society for American Music in Eugene, Oregon (2005). The Award, established in memory of the distinguished musicologist and former Eastman School professor, is presented to a graduate musicology student in recognition of a special academic accomplishment.

2003: Awarded the Prize for Best Student Papers Presentation at the Academic Year 2002/2003 Meetings of the American Musicological Society Midwest Chapter. Paper presented: "Marc Blitzstein's Sacco and Vanzetti and the Rhetoric of McCarthyism."

2003: Awarded "Distinguished Thesis Award" from the College of Musical Arts - Bowling Green State University. Thesis: "Marc Blitzstein's Sacco and Vanzetti and the Rhetoric of McCarthyism."

2003: Awarded the "Richard S. James Memorial Scholarship" from the College of Musical Arts - Bowling Green State University, for superior skills in written communication and scholarly studies in the field of music history and ethnomusicology.

AWARD NOMINATIONS

2006: Nomination for the Graue Award.  The award was established in memory of Jerald C. Graue, Chair of Eastman's musicology department from 1975 until his untimely death in 1982, and honors a continuing graduate student who has shown excellence in musicology.
