Dear Mr. Nobis:

Thank you for your e-mail post of Sunday, July 8.  First, let me assure you that Monroe Community College takes very seriously the question that has been raised regarding objections to animal dissection in our academic programs.

There is no question that times have changed and the faculty and staff of MCC are learning to deal with these issues just as the rest of the educational world.

While I have not personally been involved in all discussions regarding this issue, I have been kept advised of all aspects, as I have both a personal and professional interest.

Our science faculty is working on a policy that will be completed during this summer for consideration for adoption at MCC.  I am confident that our faculty will come forth with a policy that will be in the best interest of all students who attend Monroe Community College.

Once that policy has been approved we will be more than pleased to provide a copy to you.

In your memorandum to me you raised many tangential questions regarding the handling of this matter.   You should feel free to discuss those matters with our General Counsel, Diane Cecero.

Sincerely yours,

R. Thomas Flynn
President
