Bio
I'm an Assistant Professor of Economics at Rochester.
I'm from Australia originally. My undergrad degrees are in Mathematics and in Classics (from
ANU) and my Ph.D. in Economics
is from MIT; my dissertation was called Essays in Search Theory and focused
specifically on generalizing standard search models to allow for firms with decreasing returns to labor.
This
is what I look like, although my eyes are probably a little less red than that. This is also me.
Research
My research is currently continuing in the direction established in my dissertation. Draft papers can be found on via the papers link in the menu at left.
Teaching
This fall (2009) I'm teaching ECON 209, Intermediate Macreoconomics (two sections, one meeting Mondays and Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:45pm and one meeting Mondays and Wednesdays 2:00pm-3:15pm). In addition, there will be recitations, not fully scheduled until the beginning of the semester. There is no difference between the two sections of the course except in timing.
The textbook is Charles I. Jones, Macroeconomics, W. W. Norton & Co., New York, 2008 (publisher's webpage). This is the first edition of this textbook. Unlike in 2008, you will not need access to the SmartWork online homework package.
A draft syllabus is available here.
In the spring I'll be teaching half of a 2nd year field course in graduate macro and part of the core 1st year sequence in graduate macro.
